Four podcasts to spice up your Fourth of July road trip

July 3, 2018

Are you hitting the road today? If so, I wish you luck! It’s you and close to 40 million other Americans setting out to celebrate Independence Day. According to AAA, this is a record-setting year, and today is the busiest of the travel days. I’m fortunate enough to already be at my Fourth of July destination. But for those of you jumping in your cars and braving the traffic, I want to help make the trip more bearable. I am recommending my four favorite podcasts to help you pass the time.

  1. Workforce Institute Radio (The Workforce Insitute) – Helping organizations with practical advice for management issues that affect both hourly and salaried employees.
  2. How I Built This (NPR) – Telling the stories behind some of the world’s best-known companies.
  3. Stuff You Should Know (HowStuffWorks) – Educating on common things and how they work.
  4. TED Radio Hour (NPR) – Exploring fascinating ideas, astonishing inventions, and new ways to think and create.

Whether you’re hoping to tune out your fellow passengers or simply use your travel time wisely, one of these shows will do the trick. Topics are fun and interesting, and I always end up learning something worthwhile. First on the list is Workforce Institute Radio, the only one of the four specifically featuring discussions with thought leaders in the workforce management and human capital management space. Then we have business insight, fun facts, and innovation…no real theme here other than that they are my most frequented shows. Each is available on Apple Podcasts.

Safe travels and have a happy and healthy Independence Day!
