When there’s a will, there’s a way: Goodwill of Central and Coastal Virginia provides opportunities for job seekers in their communities

January 5, 2018

“Goodwill was founded on the notion of let’s help people find work,

Goodwill…said Shawn Smith, Director of Workforce Development, Goodwill of Central and Coastal Virginia (GCCVA).

A mission-minded company, Goodwill makes a difference in more ways than one. Many of us know the organization as an established retail provider but the retail side came along as a strategy to support their very powerful mission to provide job seekers the skills they need to become marketable in the workplace. Revenue from the goods we donate to stores goes back into their employment outreach programs helping community members reach their career goals.

Approximately 10,000 individuals enrolled in Goodwill’s job training and career development opportunities last year, with over 2,000 successfully placed in employment as a result of the organization’s efforts. GCCVA specifically hires around 500 to 800 employees each year to fulfill roles in a variety of functions including retail, logistics, marketing, and human resources. Paper timecards, a notorious payroll process, and multiple manual practices made it difficult to perform their operations efficiently. What they needed was a single record system to streamline their workforce strategy.

With Kronos Workforce Ready®, GCCVA employees can let the solution do the hard work for them and free up time to focus on mission-important responsibilities. Deploying Workforce Ready has led to multiple benefits for the organization including less paperwork, less time spent on performance appraisals, and fewer manual errors.

See how Goodwill of Central and Coastal Virginia partnered with Kronos to help further their mission and provide career opportunities for members of the community.
