A Funny thing happened on the way to the (LA) Forum

August 1, 2013

Queen at LA Forum 1982Full Disclosure: This is just a little story to let me promote the forums on our Kronos customer portal, customer.kronos.com. This community “is a great way to connect with other customers and benefit from their real-world experiences.” Also, while you’re in the portal, set your “My Favorite Products” for amazing targeted results when you search from the Favorites area. Setting your favorites will make your search results rock, and you’ll be automatically entered into a monthly drawing for a $25 American Express® gift card!

Online communities are all the rage these days, and if you have one, it’s a great place to hear your “voice of the customer.” While researching for this post, I found Queenconcerts.com, one of many fan communities. I was originally going with the musical/movie that originated this post title, but that just wasn’t working for me, so I opted for my visit to the “fabulous” LA Forum on September 14th or 15th, 1982 to see Queen. They were a great live band, and Freddie Mercury one of the best front men I’ve ever seen. Two things I didn’t realize about those shows until today are:

  1. The 2 Forum shows were Queen’s last in the U.S. before Freddie died in 1991, and;
  2. A funny thing happened on the way to the Forum stage. Michael Jackson showed up.

Rest in peace, gentlemen. Somewhere in many a forum, communities of fans are still missing you.
