Keeping an eye out for football and analytics

January 15, 2016

hit-in-the-face-with-footballI’m no data scientist (we do have them at Kronos), but I think it’s highly unlikely we’ll ever find out how local football coaching legend, Bill Belichick got that shiner. All we can do is guess, but guessing is no way to run a business, including a football team. Speaking of analytics and football, analytics site the FiveThirtyEight uses their big data savvy to peg Coach Belichick’s team with an 11% chance of winning the “big game,” and gives them a 51% chance of winning their game tomorrow. Those other analytics guys, the Vegas oddsmakers also consider the team from Foxborough, MA a slight favorite. Interestingly, the biggest factors in these calculations involve each competing workforce…

Analytical insight into your workforce is a powerful tool to guide better decision-making and uncover trends that can identify problem areas. Now it’s time for a little Friday film work. Good luck to your team this weekend unless it’s from Kansas City…

I enjoy the off-beat articles you write here. I’ve never thought about football as two companies putting their staffs against each other.
