If it’s April 15th, I just saw my Mom!
Yeah, so this is a reasonable facsimile of my mom yesterday. She arrived at my house at 6:30 for a 6:00 dinner. Right on time for punctually late mom… After dinner we filed an extension. This morning I pressed the “Submit” key on my H&R Block “Taxcut” (yeah, right) software, and thereby transmitted a European vacation to the IRS.
First thing in the office this morning, I fired up Workforce Central to adjust my withholdings in the hopes next year doesn’t hurt so much. These sometimes have to be filled out on a W4 form and submitted to your Payroll department, but it’s easy for me using Workforce HR Employee Self-Service. Our KnowledgePass learning portal also has some excellent training tools for using Employee Self-Service, but it’s so easy didn’t need them. And as a public service, here’s a link to the IRS Withholding Calculator if you need to figure out what yours should be. Also, if you live in a state with an income tax, they offer resources to figure out your state withholding. Here’s the Massachusetts link.
I wish I had some witty close to this post, but my coffers are bare. Instead, here are 9 Things Not To Do On Tax Day from Forbes.
