Thanksgiving Attitude is Everything

November 26, 2014

Where are you on the Thanksgiving opinion spectrum?

Love it?

Hate it?

Make fun of it?

I probably sit in the making fun area, over by the kids table. Here’s a snippet from my (Play)Blog from a long time ago. Note: I haven’t matured much since then…

Here’s a quote that provides simple perspective for Thanksgiving and every other day.

“Be thankful for what you have. Your life, no matter how bad
you think it is, is someone else’s fairy tale.” ― Wale Ayeni

I’m especially thankful today that, despite all of the deeply overtime efforts by those with vested interests in commercial distractions and despite constant immersion in a culture that is often shallow and self-indulgent, I remember why Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday.

The feast, the football, even the bargain hunting are fun but just the entertainments–good for a few days, if you count leftovers and returns. I’m one of the lucky ones, perhaps. But I have many reasons to be thankful and to celebrate. That’s nourishment, of sorts, for another year. Thanks, indeed…
