Happy Anniversary?

September 11, 2012

The planes, fireballs, falling victims, and collapsing towers have partially faded in our rear view mirror, but eleven years has only begun to heal the wound, and every year on this day we’re reminded of our 9/11 national trauma. Like November 22nd and December 7th, September 11 is a date under a shadow for Americans, and it’s got to be a tough day for anyone celebrating a birthday or anniversary. It seems almost selfish to celebrate anything today given our respect for the victims, their families and friends, but good things have happened on September 11th, and we should celebrate them.

Six years ago today, my new boss greeted me in her office saying, “Hi, I’m Joyce.” I remember doing a bit of a mental eye-roll and thinking, “Of course you are.”1. In the years since, we’ve accomplished quite a bit, and have had fun doing it. She’s a great manager, an advocate of our customer experience, the leader of our Workforce Institute, has created thought-leadership content for Kronos, hates to lose and throws a wicked headlock, plus she’s the owner of one infectious laugh. (Work)Joyce, as she’s now known to keep my Joyce’s straight, remains one of the reasons I love coming to work. Oh, and we need more like her, so check out our careers page.

Happy anniversary, (Work)Joyce.

1. Note: I’ve used these words in another (Blog)life, so to avoid the bizarre “self-plagiarism,” I’m citing that use.

And you, my friend, are one of the major reasons that I love working at Kronos! Thanks for the shout out on my anniversary.
